Under the Trees

A few pages from volunteer teaching in Meitan, Guizhou. Beyond the classroom, the photographs gather around ordinary things: a schoolyard, a shared activity, and a group standing together beneath the trees.

The people are the centre of this story.

Around the Table

A lesson can take the shape of a conversation or a pair of hands at work. Here, attention is shared around a table: looking closely, trying something out, and making room for someone else to join in.

Beside the classroom photographs, these smaller moments offer another view of teaching. The materials are simple; the exchange between people is what gives the scene its character.

Inside the Classroom

A blackboard, rows of desks, and a room full of students. This is the other side of the schoolyard photographs: a place where ideas are explained, questions take shape, and learning becomes something shared.

Beyond the Classroom

The photographs move outside, from a football pitch to a path in the rain. A different rhythm runs through these pages: movement, company, and the landscape around the school.

Chicago, at Street Level

Looking up between the buildings, the city becomes a study in lines and light. Glass towers and older facades share the same street; a narrow patch of blue holds the view together.

City Meets Water

From above, the dense pattern of streets gives way to open water. The lake changes the scale of the picture: buildings become small, the horizon stretches out, and the city finds a quieter edge.

Reflections & Facades

Chicago appears in fragments as well as panoramas. Trees frame the polished surface of Cloud Gate; farther along, the theatre entrance brings a different texture to the street.

A Place at the Table

A travel album does not have to end with a landmark. Plates, a tablecloth, and the details of a meal belong here too. Beside the skyline, they bring the journey back to a more familiar scale.
